I started reading "Splinter of Hope" and ... so far it's not good IMHO. Stereotype characters and an uninspired plot.
Dunno if I procede reading it.
The Anvil seems more solid, but I am not a huge fan of clan stories. The characters and the clan society are not my cup of tea. Kinda space Nazis who weed out their own kind if they don't fit into the profile of the uber-warrior.
So if Pardo had written the IS novella, I would have been much happier.
